Apply science skills and leadership in welding processes,technology, and metallurgical issues across all departments with a broad span of welding processes andmaterials in ¾” to 60” standard and custom designed high-pressure valves forcritical-service applications in the global power-generation and petro-chemicalindustries:
Be a daily Welding Engineering code, rework, and process resource for manufacturing Operations in support of production schedules, training/coaching, weld repairs and welding qualifications.
Be a member of the Metallurgical Process Control(MPC) department to advance multiple technology and process improvement projects, to plan/monitor/document code-compliant PQR welds, and to play leading roles in concepting, prioritizing, cost-justifying, and collaboratively executing, commissioning and Continuously Improving excellence in manual, mechanized and automated WPS code-welding solutions.
Responsible for the preparation and qualification of Welding Procedure Specifications.
Responsible for the training and qualification of Welding and Welding Operators in accordance with ASME, RCCM, PED, and other codes and standards.
Provide Technical support for Welding and Nondestructive Examination for Flowserve, Raleigh facilities, equipment, and personnel qualification to assure compliance with customer order, code, and standard requirements.
Strive to optimize weld quality and process controls to meet all NDE requirements with minimal rework, and avoid unnecessarily high manufacturing costs.
Devise, construct, support and improve welding process documentation to WPS requirements.
Support and Monitor Mechanized or Automated Welding Projects and Programming.
Identify and address potential welding process issues early, for lowest change costs, during design, build, programming and launch.
Advise and address integrator/programmer questions.
Create methods and mechanisms of continuous improvement in the specification, procurement, build, programming and installation of welding automation, including coordinated efforts to drive out costs in programming, build, installation & launch through effective systematic use of such tools as offline programming, mastering, leveling, calibration, TCP control, and other methods and technologies.
5+ years of direct welding manufacturing experience including mechanized and automated welding applications
The work history and accomplishments of qualified candidates will demonstrate the expertise and determined commitment needed to advance globally competitive improvements and breakthrough achievements in manual, mechanized and automated code-welding solutions.
Qualified candidates will have technical knowledge of metallurgy, welding, heat treating, and material specifications, and in related process equipment, controls and instruments.
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
Minor, or Associates Degree (AS) or Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in one of: Welding Engineering; Welding Engineering Technology; Materials Joining Engineering; Materials Joining Engineering Technology; Metallurgy; Metallurgical Engineering; Materials Engineering.
