A key accountability will be to develop and determine commodity strategy in alignment with regional commodity strategies. This will entail:

Planning annual direct material spend targets, supplier consolidation and leverage volume, drive negotiations and close contracts aligned to supplier strategy and savings targets Integration of new products with associated supply chain solutions. Total product cost must be in line with gross margin and market level price objectives Indirect spend management, drive negotiations and close contracts aligned to supplier strategy and savings targets Develop a robust domestic sourcing plan for key component families that align and complement the existing supply chain solutions for each of the product lines Drive high standards of ethics and compliance through the team

The site has a well developed CIP culture using Six Sigma and Lean and will want to employ these technique in the improvement of the supply chain process. The site is in the process of raising the levels of talent and developing a talent pool for future growth. The management of individual and team performance is a key part of future success in the role.

The incumbent will work closely with all peer group managers and will matrix into IPO Supply Chain Director and corporate staff. Previous exposure to matrix management structures will be an asset.

The incumbent will also undertake any other duties reasonably required.


To develop and manage a stable supplier base to deliver quality products and service on time at globally competitive pricing, and to drive supplier performance improvements. Supplier On time delivery and quality metrics will be monitored closely and actions taken to ensure that objectives are met (OTD - 95%, Quality - 98%) To develop key performance metrics for inventory levels and cash flow with actions taken to ensure that objectives are met Develop an supply chain Annual Operating Plan (AOP), based on the forecast annual spend for direct and indirect material, determine cost reduction opportunity projects/initiatives and drive throughout the year in line with savings/cost reduction objectives. Improve the efficiency of purchasing processes working closely with other site functional leaders to eliminate the upstream challenges To provide strategic direction and support in the provision of supply base, planning systems and inventory programmes. To drive CIP in improving internal processes and reducing costs To manage the training, development, retention and succession of staff to ensure improved people performance, career development and retention. To ensure compliance with corporate policy and regulations covering such aspects as ethics, integrity, health and safety, SOX and other requirements. To develop and determine commodity strategy in alignment with regional commodity strategies.

Position Description:

Basic Function

To provide an integrated supply chain management service encompassing planning, scheduling, demand management, purchasing, procurement, goods inwards and inventory management to ensure improved delivery performance, reduced inventory levels and reduced costs.


Direct material spend of $25M pa.

Staff: 8 Purchasing staff.

Nature and Scope

The jobholder will report to the General Manager. There will be a dotted line reporting to the IPO Supply Chain Director. The position will be based at the IPO Flowserve site in Pozuelo, Spain.

The immediate challenge will be stabilising the purchasing processes and work with the functional leaders to address the upstream challenges, improve supplier performance and ultimately reduce Past Due Backlog

This key appointment will have a substantial impact upon company delivery performance against customer requirements and a substantial impact upon bought-out item costs

Improvements will be available via increasing cross site collaboration and the linking of global supply chain deals into local needs.

Position Requirements:

Candidate Specification

Senior supply chain experience for minimum 10 years with minimum of 3 year in team management

Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Supply Chain with CIPS/APICS preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Team management experience essential Wide cultural adaptability, change oriented, stress resistant Fluent English and Spanish essential The ability to think strategically and implement actions operationally within a matrix organization. Strong influencing capability and effective listening skills A creative supply chain/procurement professional who possesses first class negotiation skills. The credibility to form good working relationships with suppliers and internal customers. Experience with casting category will be valuable
