Position Requirements:

Carrying out the machining operations on components against drawings and against shop loading requirements. Machining includes milling, drilling, broaching and slotting on a variety of metals.

Setting-up of tooling and machine/s for the operation.

Fetching components to the machine and loading them manually or by using the crane and unloading when operations are complete.

Trim and balance the impellers on the balancing machine.

Maintain local housekeeping and observe all health and safety regulations, ensuring all machine guarding is in place and all personal protective equipment is worn, including safety glasses, protective footwear, gloves as required and overalls.

Must adhere to all Health and Safety procedures onsite and should be aware of local and companywide H&S policies and practices.

Perform all lifting and slinging duties in line with current legislation and guidance .

Operate a pendant crane and to sling loads.

Preferences:

  • Must have forklift driving licence

  • Time served mechanical engineering apprentice

  • Previous machining experience both CNC and manual

  • Knowledge of alignment, manual lathe turning and milling

  • Must be able to operate on own initiative with minimum supervision

  • Good written, oral and interpersonal skills

  • Able to read and interpret sketches, drawings, specifications and technical manual

  • Knowledge of pumps, mechanical seals, piping systems and Flowserve products is desirable

  • Can work well as part of a team

  • Willing to work outside of normal work hours if required

  • Full UK drivers licence preferred

Position Description:

The Machinist will work as part of a small team within the Newark Quick Response Centre (QRC). They will have the responsibility to machine components whilst working against drawings and to the correct tolerances, carrying out continual quality checks on their work to ensure components are of the highest standard. As part of a small team flexibility is important and they will be able to operate both CNC and manual machines.
