We are currently seeking a qualified Design Engineering associate to prepare complex, 3D/CAD design drawings and BOM for engineered systems for customers and manufacturing, in accordance with engineering specifications. Typical system layouts consist of skid mounted liquid ring pumps, auxiliary mechanical seal support systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation and pressure piping. The position requires an individual with strong mechanical aptitude and relentless attention to detail.

Develop and prepare drawings, plans, P&ID’s, layouts and BOM from engineering specifications.
Review and interpret associated design specifications for each project
Select materials and components based on project specifications
Confirm overall design for functional feasibility with PE and PM
Operate 3D CAD station.
Verify and implement drawing and BOM revisions due to engineering, customer and manufacturing changes.
Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data.
Design tanks and pressure vessels utilizing calculations to ensure conformance with engineering specifications and applicable codes.
Prepare design layouts of structural bases in accordance with engineering specifications.
Perform peer reviews of designs to ensure accuracy to specifications, standards and codes.
Use MRP system for BOM entry.
Provide assistance to junior CAD Designers
Recommend design modifications to improve standard products, and develop prototypes where applicable.
Recommend design engineering procedure changes and improvements.
Adhere to ISO quality procedures and processes for drawing management and control
Liaise with project administrators, system engineering, purchasing, shop and assembly staff as required.
Other tasks as assigned by the department supervisor critical to the daily success of Flowserve Guelph
Support other departments on technical queries
Use of Solidworks 2015 with pipe routing/systems experience
Experience with rotating equipment and pumping systems are considered an asset.
Minimum three(3) years’ experience in industrial pressure piping design using ASME B31.1 and B31.3 preferably chemical, oil & gas sectors.
Applied experience in 2D drafting standards and techniques including GD&T.
Workingknowledge of pressure piping design and fabrication in accordance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 piping codes. Knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 pressure vessel design and fabrication.
Experience with structural steel design and fabrication for supporting rotating equipment and piping systems.
Experienceintegrating instrumentation into piping designs including control valves, flow meters and transmitters (pressure, temperature and level).
Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma from an accredited College/University in Mechanical Engineering
College Graduates - C.E.T. (or eligible in Ontario)
2+ years of experience with 3D modelling and 2D drafting software (SolidWorks or equivalent).
