Responsible for the following programs, activities, and reporting:
· Ensure Job Safety and Environmental Analyses are being conducted as required.
· Monitor completion data to assure our work force is current with all required safety training for Flowserve and our customers.
· Evaluate operational practices to determine methods to eliminate or control workplace hazards.
· Prepare SHEA metrics for use at multiple levels of the organization.
· Oversee day-to-day compliance with programs such as Hearing Conservation, Hazardous Waste Management, PPE, LOTO, New Hire Orientation, and Industrial Hygiene.
Lead facility safety committee by selecting members, conducting training, coordinating activities and empowering members to develop and obtain specific safety goals and objectives.
Daily communication of SHEA related topics.
Lead the investigation and completed documentation of any safety or process event (root cause analysis). Recommend and implement resolutions.
· Enhance safety and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
This position usually requires the following:
Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in Safety or a related field
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or EH&S related field preferred but may be substituted with additional years of safety experience
Familiarity and experience with federal and local regulations
Experience with OSHA standards compliance
Ability to maintain confidentiality with personally sensitive information
Ability to compile technical data and prepare technical and analytical reports
Strong attention to detail
Skilled in communicating ideas and instructions clearly
Must demonstrate strong organization skills
Ability to manage time and prioritize projects
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills appropriate for all levels of an organization
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
a. Assignment, Review and Approval of Work
Projects are generally generated by the SHEA team based on the need to respond to day-to-day operations and to comply with new and existing federal, state and local regulations as well as customer demands. Additional direction comes from the sub-regional leadership team.
b. Responsibility and Decision-Making
Can authorize expenditures approved in the budget in conjunction with Company guidelines. Make independent decisions associated with areas of responsibility or as results from tasks assigned.
c. Relationships with Outside Organizations
Outside contacts include safety supply vendors, representatives of various regulatory agencies, industrial hygiene consultants, equipment manufacturers’ representatives, and counterparts at other industries.
d. Organizational Relationships
There is close coordination with the AMSS SHEA Manager, Sub-Regional leadership team, Human Resources, and Corporate Regional SHEA Managers.
e. Major or Unusual Challenges
The major challenge associated with this position is proactively leading safety at three sites. Must be able to understand and apply safety requirements from the three businesses so that they meet those varying expectations. The constant engagement of all three (3) sites will be a major function of this job.
f. “Makes or Breaks”
Must be a self-starter and must aggressively and diplomatically pursue and gain the cooperation of all associates to support safety and health initiatives being pursued. Success hinges on the ability to work well with all associates, realizing that this is a service provider role.
This position is responsible for day-to-day compliance of the Flowserve safety programs and related activities at the Corpus Christi Pump, Valves & Seal QRC’s. This will entail ensuring compliance with all established SHEA programs and maintaining compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI and Flowserve standards.
